K. Kamalaksha
Banker · Economist · Citizen
K. Kamalaksha, 84, holds a B.A. in Economics from Kerala University and an LL.B. from Bombay University. He spent a distinguished career with the State Bank of India, serving successively in their Central Office in Mumbai, Head Office in Bangalore, and in a long innings at their London Office.
He was subsequently posted to SBI Capital Markets Ltd in Mumbai, where he worked in their Merchant Banking and Lease & Hire Purchase Divisions. On leaving the SBI Group, he held senior positions in India's private corporate sector in both Mumbai and Bangalore. In that capacity he travelled extensively to Europe and the United States, pursuing funding options for corporate finance and exploring newer financial products.
Now fully retired and living in Bangalore, Kamalaksha has been active in writing, having published articles on finance in various publications. Chintaka — meaning "The Thinker" in Kannada — is his platform for sharing these perspectives: the considered reflections of a citizen who has witnessed India's economic transformation over decades and cares deeply about the country's trajectory.
